Tamannaah is Ajith’s Next Movie heroine!

It is official that Tamannaah is Ajith's heroine in Vijaya Productions untitled new film directed by 'Siruthai' Shiva. The guessing game is over, as Tamannah emerged winner in the heroine race with the favourite horse Anushka losing out in the last shuffle.
 
Director Shiva a huge fan of Ajith Kumar says in a press statement : "Now that the  heroine is finalized, the producers  Bharathi Reddy and Venkataram Reddy  had gone various steps ahead in promoting this film as a massive family entertainer true to the image of the company which had produced many block busters."

Young upcoming actors like Vidaarth, Baala, Munish, Sohail will share the screen space with Ajith . Jayaram  and Santhanam will provide the comedy factor with JP and Ilavarasu playing the support roles. Added Shiva : "The project promises plenty of emotions to, each time I see Ajith Sir in regard to the script, his image on my mind grows rapidly and I am sure my script will definitely enthral  Ajith sirs fans".

The Ajith- Shiva untitled film's cameraman is Vetri and art Director Prabhakar, with music by the one and only Devi Sri Prasad or DSP as he is known among his fans.
 
The film is the prestigious production of Vijaya Productions on the centenary year of its founder the late Nagi Reddy. Though the shooting will commence only from March the song recording and other pre-production processes will happen from December2,  the concluding day of the centenary year.

Ajith to go for surgery?

Thala Ajith who got injured during shoot of his Vishnuvardhan's untitled film in Mumbai, may go for a surgery. 

While doing a dare-devil action scene of jumping from one car to another, he slipped and got his right leg jammed in the tyre and suffered a few bruises.

A source close to Ajith said: " One thing is sure Ajith sir will have to go for a surgery but not immediately. He will go for surgery only after his present commitments are over.  I'm really stunned with his hard work, dedication and commitment. He is the true professional."
 
Meanwhile the shooting schedule of his untitled Vishnuvardhan project, has been postponed by a week.  Ajith will start work on  Siruthai Siva's untitled film for Vijaya Vauhini from December 2, for a week in Hyderabad.

Actor Ajith's next to start from December

'Mass emotional entertainer'. This is how director Shiva (of 'Siruthai' fame) describes his next film with Ajith. "The project will hit the floors in December," he says. To be produced by Vijaya Productions, on the centenary year of its founder B Nagi Reddy, the film has already raised enough expectations. "I am currently giving finishing touches to the script," Shiva says. He also informs that attempts are on to have Anushka Shetty on board. A popular director in Telugu with some hit movies to his credit, Shiva hopes he could pull it off with this flick. "I know expectations are sky high since it is an Ajith starrer. I am hopeful of meeting them as I rely strongly on two things- Ajith and the script," he adds.

'Titanic 3D' crew works on Kochadaiyaan, Ajith expected for audio launch!

A three member team, who had earlier worked on Titanic 3D at the US, is currently working on the CG works of Kochadaiyaan round the clock. Kochadaiyaan is shot using motion capture technology and is releasing in 3D. It's also said that Thala Ajith, who usually stays away from promos and film events, will be attending the audio launch of Kochadaiyaan in October in Japan. Remember, the actor is very close to Rajini and the duo share a great rapport. Meanwhile, the makers are spending lavishly on the film. In fact, it's rumored that per day's rent at the London Studio where they shot is about Rs 20 lakh, and the team shot for about four days there. Sarathkumar recently shot for two days for Kochadaiyaan. Post-production work is taking place in a full swing and Nasser who is playing a pivotal role dubbed continuously for 12 hours, from 6 am to 6 pm! The film sees Superstar Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles and has music by AR Rahman. Jackie Shroff plays the villain. It's helmed by Soundarya Ashwin and script and dialogues are by KS Ravikumar.

Actor Ajith to shoot with Sridevi

Not long ago, we had reported how Ajith has been approached by Gauri Shinde's unit to appear in a cameo role in her directorial, English Vinglish. And now, we can tell you that the actor has lapped up the offer, and will soon be shooting with Sridevi for the same. A source close to the actor reveals, "Ajith is a huge fan of Sridevi, and highly respects her for her acting prowess. So, he decided to make a guest role in the film. He will be shooting with Sridevi in Mumbai during this weekend. He will be shooting for the Tamil version of the film, while Amitabh Bachchan has already shot for its Hindi version." We hear that Ajith will stay on in Mumbai, and start work on his yet-to-be-titled film with Vishnuvardhan from August 15. "It will be a long schedule, which will go on for at least two months."

There is a buzz that Thala Ajith is doing a cameo role in actress Sridevi’s comeback film English Vinglish. Sridevi, after a 14 year sabbatical is acting again in the lead in the film directed by debutant director Gauri Shinde and produced by famous ad man and director Balki.

English Vinglish is about a woman played by Sridevi a housewife, who enrols for an English speaking course in order to please her husband and family. The film is being dubbed into Telugu and Tamil languages and will release simultaneously along with the Hindi version on September 21.

The film also features French actor Mehdi Nebbou, Adil Hussain and Priya Anand. Amitabh Bachchan will be making a guest appearance in the Hindi version of the film. Ajith is supposed to be doing the role done by Amitabh in the Tamil and Telugu version.

Rana confirms Gust Role in Ajith film!

It is confirmed that the hot and happening Telugu star Rana Daggubati will do a “special appearance” in Vishnuvardhan directed Ajith’s untitled film for producer AM Ratnam.

Ajith`s Billa 2 may have carry mixed reports but has taken an earth shaking opening at the CBO. From approximately 50 screens in Chennai and suburbs it has grossed a whopping Rs 2.65 Crore, a new record for an Ajith film.

Aascar Films have given it such a wide release that it has been able to get a record opening. Remember Billa 2 with its `A` certificate has to pay 30% as entertainment tax.

Billa 2 is number 1 to 3 in our charts, as nearly 85 % of box-office revenue at CBO this week was generated from this film. Naan Ee is at number four and Saif Ali Khan- Deepika Padukone film Cocktail has opened well at number five.

The star power of Ajith Kumar is working big time again. Despite getting mixed reviews from critics and audience, the movie has made a stunning business at the Box Office in the first weekend. According to the traders, Billa 2 has earned around Rs 19 crore nett in the first weekend in Tamil Nadu. The movie, which was released on July 13, ran into packed houses in most of the theatres in Tamil Nadu. On an average, the occupancy at cinema halls for the movie was 95% in single screens as well as multiplexes. As far as the international Box Office is concerned, the movie has collected approximately Rs 30.69 lakhs (UK£35,930) nett at the UK Box Office on the first day and on Saturday, it raked in approximately 17.61 lakhs (£20,620). At Australian Box Office, it has collected approximately 13.72 lakhs (A$24,469) and 8.90 lakhs (A$15,874) on Friday and Saturday, respectively. At the US, Billa 2 grossed 35.10 lakhs and 22.09 lakhs approximately on Friday and Saturday at reported screens and the figure might be bigger when the complete report is out. Billa 2 opens big And box office Collection

Ajith`s Billa 2 produced by In Entertainment and distributed by Aascar Films has taken a good opening. In Tamil Nadu the film has netted Rs 7.61 Crore on day one (July 13) of its release, which is fantastic.

Aascar Ravichandran who distributed the film in Tamil Nadu said: "I`m very happy withBilla 2`s response at the box-office. After the entertainment tax cut, the opening day collection for B2 is bigger than Ajith`s previous film. Remember, other than Ajith all are newcomers, there are no comedy tracks, no `gaana songs` and it is action-packed."

However, the film has been getting mixed response from the audience. Sunir Kheterpal the producer of the film says: "It is not a typical Ajith film still the audiences are thronging the theatres. I`m sure the film will gross anywhere between Rs 38 to Rs 40 cr in the opening weekend across India."

'Idhayam' song cut in Billa 2

The mellifluous melody “Idhayam…” song in Ajith’s Billa 2, has been cut from the film for the Indian viewers. However the song has been screened in all international releasing centres of the film.

Though no official announcement has been made, the buzz is that the song has been cut as the makers thought it created a lag in the narrations.

The song sung by Shwetha Pandit is one of the hit songs in the film which has been popularised on FM stations. It is said to be a romantic number picturised on Parvathy Omanakuttan.

‘Billa II is a visual treat’ for all Ajith Fans

The stage is set, and Thala fans are in for a treat. With Billa II hitting screens early tomorrow morning, can Ajith recreate his Mankatha madness of last year? Even as his fans nod a big yes, the makers are equally confident too! Suni Kheterpal, one of the producers of the much-anticipated Billa II, says casting for this Ajith flick was a meticulous process. "As the Film travels across Tamil Nadu, Goa and Eastern Europe, we worked on characterization of lead actors and then picked up the best available for specific roles. That's why, you will see Cast from Tamil, Telugu, Malyalam and Hindi film industries in it. Hand-picking crew was relatively easier though. We knew what kind of action was required and then went out to get the best guys possible," he says. He concludes, "The audiences are in for a treat. First things first- If you expected Billa-2 to be a stylish film, you will not be disappointed. Problem is, apart from a few stale gimmicks borrowed from a bunch of Hollywood films -- nothing really happens in this film at all. It is a miscalculation on the part of both the film's writer and director Chakri Toleti who has to take the blame for it.

Packaged snazzily with a charismatic hero like Ajith, glossy-finish camerawork by RD Rajasekhar, exotic locations and fancy costumes, every frame of the film probably cost lakhs to put together, but it still feels like a hollow piece in the end because the story doesn't hold.

The film has no soul, not even a wafer thin story or any smart packaging in terms of commercial elements associated with a big hero film. In short, director Chakri Toleti has made a film without understanding the basic structure of commercial mass films and it lacks local flavour.

The story is a prequel on how David Billa became the biggest underworld don of all times. David Billa (Ajith) a refugee (?) comes to Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu and his journey begins into crime. First he starts as a local diamond smuggler who graduates into drugs and later international arms smuggling. On the way up the crime syndicate, he meets a lot of treacherous opponents whom he eliminates one by one and becomes the dreaded don. But the treatment's so over-the-top, so indulgent that it fails to establish any connect.

In all fairness, the first half of the film is marginally better than the second. If Billa-2 is salvaged to some extent, it's thanks to Ajith’s irresistible screen presence and his spontaneous approach to the character. Sadly you have no words of praise for good looking villains Sudhanshu and Vidyut and girls Parvathy Omanakuttan and Bruna Abdullah who can't rise above the flawed script.

Do we really want impressionable young children to see this kind of violence where people are brutally chopped, throat slit and killed at regular intervals? You cringe in the scene when Ajit kills the corrupt policeman (KK) when he is having kinky sex in a brothel!

Don't go in expecting too much, perhaps you won't be too disappointed. Watch Billa-2 for its stylish presentation....
